The Birth of MONKOS AI
A Photographer with 20 Years of Experience Develops an AI Platform.
It's been a long journey with photography. A boy who majored in computer science in his youth eventually found himself playing the guitar, studying photography, and running a photo studio.
All these experiences, which may seem somewhat unusual, were never in vain. In the unexpectedly dawning AI era, I naturally started thinking with AI, creating photographs in collaboration with AI, and finally, developing an AI platform myself.
MONKOS, Where Does the Name Come From?
MONKOS is a portmanteau of MONK and OS. Two years ago, when I moved the studio, I changed the name to MONK Studio. 'MONK' refers to a religious monk.
The image that came to mind when deciding on this name was the JAZZ pianist 'Thelonious MONK'. I named it with the intersecting meaning of contemplation and emotion, reminiscent of the monk Narcissus and the wandering artist Goldmund from Hermann Hesse's "Narcissus and Goldmund".
While developing the AI platform myself, I focused on building a multi-agent system beyond a simple app, a process that felt like developing an OS. From this background, MONK OS was born as the brand MONKOS.
Currently, we operate two platforms: a static hosting website, monk.kr, and monkos.ai, which is equipped with our own engine. All platforms were developed in-house, and after many trials and errors, we established our own development system. Our agents call this system Multi Agent Orchestration.
We have become a wonderful team that has completed a multi-agent system with its own OS. With all preparations complete, we are now moving towards the world. To introduce our capabilities one by one, we are reorganizing our blog and opening it anew. We hope to communicate with you and create a wonderful AI era together.
